Welcome!

We are a friendly, Jesus-centered church that meets for worship 10am on Sundays  at 319 Queen St., Port Perry.

Welcome Pastor Anita Van Nest

Pastor Anita Van Nest graduated from Knox College at the University of Toronto with a Master of Divinity and started her second career as a Presbyterian minister, her first career being an elementary school teacher at Akwesasne and in York Region.

For 10 years she served the congregation of Stamford Presbyterian Church
which is the oldest Presbyterian congregation in Upper Canada started by
Empire Loyalists in 1784. While in Niagara, she also served four other
Presbyterian congregations on an interim basis as they navigated diverse
changes and challenges. For 5 years, Anita and a colleague founded and lead

an ESL Conversation class for new immigrants to Canada and she is aware of how blessed she has been to have been on so many adventures while taking part in the lives of countless wonderful people as their pastor.

Anita and her husband have raised three adult children who are all married
and starting the next generation in their family. They moved to Port Perry in
part to be closer to their growing family. Pastor Anita and her husband Trevor are foresters, caring for and using the forest to educate and inspire environmental awareness and sustainability. They also like to hike and travel and are trying their hands at vegetable gardening here in Port Perry.

Pastor Anita is honoured and excited to be serving the congregation of St. John’s Presbyterian Church and looks forward to a joy-filled, faithful ministry with them.

When asked what her Mission Statement would be as she takes on this Ministry Leadership role Pastor Anita stated simply, “That the congregation of St. John’s Presbyterian and myself as Pastor, will strive together to show, share and speak about the love of God through Christ in our community and in the world, prayerfully, joyfully and faithfully”.

Please join us in welcoming Pastor Anita Van Nest and her family to Port Perry and the family of St. John’s Presbyterian.
